Overcoming Weariness - Part 1.

We seize this opportunity to welcome our precious and numerous readers to another episode of our words of exhortation. The message for today is "Overcoming Weariness" anchored on the scripture in Galatians 6:7-9, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

What is weariness? It is expressed as exhaustion in strength, tolerance, endurance, vigor or freshness triggered by non actualization of expectations. Whenever there are delays in the realization of our expectations, there is likelihood for weariness to set in but the scripture admonishes us not to be weary but rather continue in well doing without fainting or giving up because at the appointed time, we shall reap.

A state of weariness is a latent weapon of the enemy to undermine the faithfulness and goodness of God as well as drift us away from His presence. There are thousands of the promises of God available to us as believers and we can only lay hold through sowing to the Spirit.

How do you sow to the Spirit?
1. Study the Word of God. 2 Tim. 2:15, Josh. 1:8
2. Worship God. Exo. 34:14, Psa. 29:2, Psa. 95:6
3. Thanksgiving & Praises unto God. Psa. 26:7, Psa. 50:14, Psa. 69:30, Psa. 100:4
4. Evangelism (Soul-winning). Mark 16:15, Luke 4:18, Prov. 11:30
5. Prayers. 1 Thess. 5:17 "Pray without ceasing", Rom. 12:12, Eph. 6:18
6. Tithe and Offerings. Prov. 3:9, Mal. 3:8-10, Luke 6:38
7. Love.  1 Pet. 1:22, 1 Joh. 4:7,12,18, Joh. 13:35
8. Fasting. Mark 9:29

Whenever we continue in all these things and remain faithful, we can rely on the promises of God, cast our cares and burdens on Him. Even while we wait for the manifestations, we should not give up because at the appointed time we shall surely obtain and testify. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven".

Case Studies:
1. Abraham (Rom. 4:16-24): Despite the delayed manifestation of God's promise to Abraham, he did not stagger at the promises even while he was growing old and everything seems impossible. God answered and gave him Isaac.
2. Job (Job 27:1-6): Despite being overwhelmed by suffering and calamity, he refused to let go of God. Friends, relatives and associates discouraged him but refused to be weary but remained focused. Eventually, his testimony is recorded in Job 42:10-12. Read.....!
3. Lord Jesus (Heb. 12:2): Our Lord, Jesus Christ endured the cross for the joy that was set before Him. The Creator of the universe was mocked, arrested, beaten, scourged and eventually crucified. At the end, He was highly exalted and given a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. Phil. 2:9-11.
