Ex-banker arraigned over N3.2m fraud

According to a report in Punch, the police have arraigned an ex-official of First Golden Microfinance Bank in Modakeke, Osun State, Mr. Waheed Adejare, before a magistrate’s court over an allegation that he stole N3.2m belonging to the bank.

According to the charge sheet, the 32-year-old Adejare perpetrated the alleged fraud between 2009 and 2011.

The charge alleged that Adejare intentionally “did omit to make full and true entry into the ledger account of First Golden Microfinance Bank, Modakeke-Ife branch.”

It said the offence is contrary to Section 383 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, adding that the offence is punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria.

The charge also said the offence “is contrary to Section 435(1) and punishable under Section 435(2) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Akinlade Ismail, said the police had enough evidence to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.

But Adejare entered a not guilty plea to the two counts stealing and intent to defraud.
